What is the purpose of Joy Manhattan Community Groups?

Our Community Group ministry is one of the most important avenues for our church’s vision to be realized. We hope that our CGs will be a space where people can intentionally walk through life with others encountering the dynamics of belonging to a gospel-centered community.

What’s beautiful about the CG experience is that we often find ourselves doing life with others who are not in our current circle of friends, who are in a different place in their spiritual journey, who share different interests and backgrounds, etc. It’s these differences that are critical in our spiritual formation and growth.

Who may join a JoyM Community Group?

Our Community Groups are for anyone who desires to participate in a gospel-centered community in earnest and with good will. Each member of a CG understands that they are agreeing to a “committed presence” to walk through life and the journey of faith in Jesus Christ with the other members in their CG. So the person hoping to join a Joy Manhattan CG intends to commit to attending consistently insofar as they are able. A CG member’s pattern of absences or unresponsiveness will prompt a conversation with the leaders about continued participation in the CG.
